Risa Petty
Risa is a certified in clinical and neuromuscular therapy. She has additional training in geriatric massage. Risa believes we are all athletes, whether the event is getting out of bed or running a marathon. Life's daily activities can lead to chronic tension in the muscles and increased demands can lead to injury, Risa is trained to assist in recovery from either condition. Her interest in the body began as a member of the women's rowing team at KU. After completing her rowing eligiibility she served as a graduate assistant in the strength and conditioning department working with athletes to improve performance. After a few years out of state Risa has returned to Lawrence and is excited to be at bodyworks downtown doing massage therapy.

Melanie got her certificate in Massage Therapy and Health
Education from the National Holistic Institute in Emeryville, California
in 2003. She has been working exclusively with Bodywork's clients since
November of that year. Melanie works primarily in three
massage styles: Swedish, Shiatsu and Deep Tissue Therapy. When you make
an appointment with her, you will likely receive a massage that integrates
the various techniques involved in those three styles, with a focus on
the specific needs of your body. She will also happily provide a strictly
Shiatsu style massage or a strictly Deep Tissue style massage, especially
if it is requested in advance. Melanie is also excited to report that she
now pactices Hot Stone therapy, and our clients love it.
